AUTHENTICITY: It’s More Than a Buzzword – It’s Liberation!

I hear people say that “authenticity” has become just another buzzword, so overused that it’s lost its impact. 

That may be true for some, but for me, authenticity is anything but meaningless.

When I talk about authenticity, I'm talking about discovering the core of who I really am – who I was always meant to be.

•  I’m talking about how it feels to finally have a body that aligns with my true sense of self, my own internal gender.

•  I’m talking about developing a mindset and belief system that lets me live as I always wished I could – confident, self-trusting, and expressive, filled with the energy, joy, and spirit that should have been mine all my life, instead of the person I used to be: frightened, confused, insecure, weighed down by a growing sense of failure and resignation.

•  And I’m talking about freedom. The version of me that’s free to make her own choices, to express herself however she chooses, no longer impacted by other people’s judgments, fears, and, perhaps most liberating, my own.

This me – she was ALWAYS in me.

Who knew that trapped inside the body of a man and the psyche of a scared little girl was this me, filled with power & authenticity & LIFE ?  Who knew that my introversion, my need to control as I sought safety, and the behaviours that kept me in cycles of failure were all learned – & were NEVER who I truly was?

The me I have become in such a short time – She is awesome!

And I want to know – what would be possible if we were all to let go of the conditioning, rules, and beliefs that are keeping us stuck ?

For me, stepping into my authentic self has been the most transformative shift I’ve ever made.  It has literally saved my life.

And from my journey – & the journey of every trans person who’s ever had to fight to live authentically despite society’s judgment, & sometimes outright hostility – there’s something we can ALL learn.  Because it’s a journey that mirrors the struggle of every human being on the planet - to live their truth.

Does this journey sound at all familiar ?  It should, because it’s a deeply human struggle – one we all share.

This isn’t about gender.  That’s just my story.  No, this is about being human. About claiming our birthright to live freely, with purpose & passion & fulfillment.
